Why is episode 7 of series 4 'disappeared'?
[edit]In the original broadcast series this episode (7:4) created many thousands of complaints and even an official representation/complaint from the Canadian government.
The big issue (not necessarily the only one) was a sketch called 'Canadian Club' - that was a satirical take on the taking of seal pups for their fur.
The sketch was broadcast, the episode was broadcast, there was a huge public and political reaction - but Wikipedia has no reference to this 'are you the nice clubbing man' sketch.
I am not an authority on this, I just know the sketch (as will many who saw it at the time) -- I just wonder why Wikipedia have blackholed it... 188.30.79.128 (talk) 23:00, 20 December 2023 (UTC)
International adaptations
[edit]I've removed this section for the below reasons.
- It was 90% unsourced, with nothing verifying these shows even existed. Most did not have English language articles.
- Equally, there was nothing cited to show these shows were adaptations of Spitting Image.
- So what we had was just "a list of TV shows that used sartirical puppets", most of which had no relation to the article subject, other than a Wikipedia editor thought they were similar.
You could suggest that some were inspired by Spitting Image, which might be true, but was not supported by any sources. Spitting Image did not invent satire or puppet caracatures, but this article was crediting it with an unverifiable international success. It also didn't even mention the US programmes that definitely were adaptations, as mentioned in a previous paragraph. Escape Orbit (Talk) 19:35, 24 March 2025 (UTC)
